I can attest to this, as the Canadian was Hungarian in background.

From The Canadian.

I have recently came back from my second “singles cruise” in the Caribbean. There is enough interest, for various reasons or other, to share my experiences, so here it goes, no holds barred, warts and all.

When I booked my trip last year, I truly didn’t know what to expect. The whole decision making, research and booking process took about 30 minutes, after which a series of emotions kicked in, from anticipation to fantasizing to dread. Having had a pretty good time, I decided to do it again this year, mostly for comparison purposes… Well, there were enough events, experiences, incidents, drama, (both good and bad) for me to have lots of stories to tell, but alas this is not what it’s about…

This is about highlights for all you curious folk… So, here it is, in no particular order:
- met some interesting, wonderful, beautiful, smart people during both trips. Hopefully some of the friendships forged will last a lifetime.
- also met a number of faulty, dysfunctional, and frankly boring people during both trips, and they will be confined to the dustbin of irrelevant memories.
- in general, I have a hard time relating to people who play “relationship games” under these circumstances. Wanna fuck? then fuck… If not, it’s just as cool (if not cooler). We’re not kids anymore - so there is no need for elaborate stories, setup, chase…
- in general, I hate being the object of irrelevant affection. not my style.
- last year I fell in love and had a long-distance relationship. It was wonderful while it lasted, but the pressure to succeed ultimately proved to difficult to handle. If only…
- in terms of relaxing, to me that is one thing these trips are not… too much drama, hype, booze, unrealistic charge to be able to relax… I can find all that here at home, there is no need to spend that money to get it over there…

This is not to say I didn’t have a great time. I did. But I don’t think I will be doing it again any time soon. Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind and go again next year (or sometime in the future) - but seriously, I don’t have any desire to at this moment.

To close this mini rant on a positive note, here’s what I will be missing and/or thinking of very fondly for a long time.
- the wonderful people I met from (in no particular order): San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Michigan, Wisconsin, Montreal… There are others, you know who you are.
- clubbing, dancing, the rum and coke, late night pizza.
- the sun, the beaches, the pools and Margaritaville.
- the amazing chamomile lemon tea and Johnny Rockets from the “Freedom of the Seas”…

And now, I’m ready for a new adventure…
